2017 Schedule 

MOBILE, Ala. – The 2017 University of South Alabama volleyball schedule features matches with two Southeastern Conference schools, two Atlantic Coast Conference teams and one Big 12 opponent along with nine Sun Belt Conference home contests, as announced by head coach Amy Hendrichovsky on Monday.

The Jaguars will compete in four straight tournaments before beginning SBC play, and will open the season at the Houston Baptist Tournament (Aug. 25-26) in Houston, Texas, with matches scheduled against Texas Southern, Houston Baptist and Texas Tech.

South Alabama will host the Jaguar Invitational (Sept. 1-2) at Jaguar Gym. The two-day tournament will feature Alabama, Southern Mississippi and McNeese State. The Jags will then head to Alabama State (Sept. 5) for a Tuesday contest in Montgomery, Ala., before heading to Auburn, Ala., for the War Eagle Invitational to compete against Auburn and Clemson in a two-day event.

USA will close its non-conference schedule at the FIU Invitational (Sept. 15-16) in Miami, with matches against Florida International, Savannah State and Miami.

The Jags open SBC play on the road at Texas State (Sept. 22), followed by a contest at Texas-Arlington (Sept. 23) the following day. South Alabama will return home to host Georgia State (Sept. 29), and will face Georgia Southern (Sept. 30) at Jag Gym.

USA will host Troy (Oct. 4) in a midweek match before returning the trip on Sat., Oct. 7, for a contest in Troy, Ala. The Jags will take on Georgia Southern (Oct. 13) in Statesboro, Ga., followed by a match at Georgia State (Oct. 14) in Atlanta.

South Alabama then hosts Little Rock (Oct. 20) and Arkansas State (Oct. 22) before closing the road portion of its schedule with matches at Appalachian State (Oct. 27) and Coastal Carolina (Oct. 29). 

The Jaguars will close the regular season with four consecutive home matches with Louisiana-Lafayette (Nov. 3), Louisiana-Monroe (Nov. 5), Coastal Carolina (Nov. 10) and Appalachian State (Nov. 12). 

The SBC Tournament will be held Nov. 16-19 in Jonesboro, Ark.

"I'm happy with the way our non-conference schedule is set up," Hendrichovsky said. "It will definitely be a challenge for us, but I expect it to prepare us to compete well in our Sun Belt Conference schedule.

"This year we are excited to have Alabama, Southern Miss and McNeese State at our Jaguar Invitational tournament. It will be a great opportunity to get a good crowd in Jag Gym to watch some competitive volleyball early in the season. With having nine home conference matches and seven away matches, our travel schedule will be slightly better. Obviously, there are many pros to playing at home. I look for us to continue to protect our home court this season."
