MOBILE, Ala. – Fourteen University of South Alabama baseball student-athletes are competing in summer ball across six different leagues.
Brendan Donovan,
Travis Swaggerty and
Drew LaBounty will compete in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Donovan has scored one run and posted a .375 on-base percentage in his first two games with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. Swaggerty will compete with the Brewster Whitecaps, but has not appeared in a game thus far. LaBounty appeared in his first game with the Braves Thursday and scored one run in a 4-3 win over Chatham.
Four Jags will compete in the Valley Baseball League for three different teams.
Andrew Cash is playing for the New Market Rebels, while
Dylan Hardy and
Carter Perkins are teaming up with the Front Royal Cardinals.
Hunter Stokes is competing with the Strasburg Express.
Hardy went 2-for-4 with a triple in his debut with Front Royal, which stands as his only game played, and Perkins has recorded one hit and one RBI in two games played. Stokes has collected one hit, one run scored and two RBI in three games played with the Express. Cash has not made an appearance yet for New Market.
A trio of Jaguars will compete in the Northwoods League.
Wells Davis and
Addison Reed are playing for the Mankato MoonDogs, while
Colton Thomas is competing with the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Davis has two hits, including a double, and three runs scored in three games with the MoonDogs. Reed has made four relief appearances, and recorded five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings pitched. Thomas is batting .375 with one RBI and one stolen base in two games played with the Border Cats.
Right-hander
Noah Michael and outfielder
Michael Sandle are competing with the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League. Sandle is hitting .273 with two doubles, three RBI, three runs scored and four stolen bases in nine games. Michael is batting .231 with one double, one RBI, two stolen bases and three runs scored, and is 1-1 with seven strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings pitched on the mound.
Griffin Rivers has made one appearance with the Hoptown Hoppers of the Ohio Valley Baseball League, and recorded one strikeout in that outing.
Reid Frazier is competing with the Herndon Braves of the Cal Ripen Collegiate Baseball Summer League. Frazier has recorded a 2.84 ERA in three appearances, and has struck out six batters against three walks in 6 1/3 innings pitched.Â
