NEW ORLEANS – Television information and game times — including a change of date — to five games on the 2017 University of South Alabama football schedule were announced Wednesday by the Sun Belt Conference office.
South Alabama's first home game has been moved up a day, with the Jaguars now playing host to Oklahoma State on Friday, Sept. 8 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The contest against the Cowboys — who are ranked in the top 10 in multiple national preseason polls — will now kickoff at 7 p.m. (CDT) and be televised live on ESPN2.
"We are excited about the opportunity to host a Big XII school for a prime-time national broadcast here in Mobile," said South Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann. "I would like to recognize the efforts of those involved at ESPN, the Sun Belt Conference and Oklahoma State for making this game a reality, its occurrence is the result of much planning, coordination and communication. We encourage people to circle the date, purchase tickets and make plans to support the Jags on this national stage."
It was also announced on Wednesday that South's season opener against Mississippi on Saturday, Sept. 2 will be shown live on ESPNU, with kick off versus the Rebels set for set for 6:30 p.m.
The Jags will now have a minimum of four games televised live on ESPN's networks.
USA will travel to Troy on Wednesday, Oct. 11, with the match-up set to air on ESPN2 at 7 p.m., while on Thursday, Oct. 26 the Jaguars are slated to visit Georgia State in a contest that can be seen on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m.
South Alabama and Alabama A&M's game set for Saturday, Sept. 16 in Mobile will be able to be seen on ESPN3, with kick time set for 6 p.m.
