MURRAY, Ky. — The University of South Alabama women's golf team will compete in their last tournament of the regular spring season at the Jan Weaver Murray State Invitational.
The Racers' two-day, 54 hole tournament at the par 72, 6,017-yard Miller Memorial golf course will begin Friday, April 7 with two rounds and the tournament will close on Saturday, April 8. South Alabama will compete in a 11-team field that features Alabama State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Lipscomb, Murray State (two lineups), Northern Kentucky, Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and Sun Belt members Louisiana-Monroe and Arkansas State.
MacKenzie Peyton leads the Jaguars into the weekend tournament with a 76.41 stroke average through 22 rounds. The sophomore earned a top-25 finish last week at Georgia State's Panther Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 228. Madison Connell, who has missed the last two tournaments due to injury, will be be a game time decision this weekend.
South Alabama will look to end the season on a high note before competing in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament slated for April 17.
"This weekend we really need to pay attention to details," head women's golf coach Matt Luther said. "We need to make good decisions and stay present and process oriented. Results will take care of themselves if we do that."
The Invitational will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start for the first two rounds on Friday. Live results will not be available for this tournament,
