NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama baseball's Brendan Donovan was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week and right-hander Matt Peacock was named the SBC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
Donovan batted .429 (9-for-21) with a triple, two home runs, six RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base while posting a .480 on-base percentage and .810 slugging percentage in five games last week. Donovan hit safely in all five games, and recorded multiple hits in four of those contests. He drove in at least one run in four of five games, including a pair of multi-RBI performances.Â
Peacock went 1-0 with one save in two relief appearances last week. The right-hander struck out four and allowed two unearned runs on one hit in 2 1/3 innings to record his fifth save of the season in Tuesday's win against No. 11 Mississippi State. Peacock earned his first career win on Sunday at Arkansas State, and struck out a career-high five batters against one walk and allowed three hits in five scoreless innings.
Monday's announcement marked the first conference player-of-the-week honors for either student-athlete.
