STITELER TABBED SUN BELT PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama sophomore Alexandria Stiteler has been voted the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week the league announced Wednesday.

Stiteler, who picks up the award for the second time this season and sixth in her career, went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and added another victory at No. 2 doubles.

The Bradenton, Fla. native won both of her singles matches in straight sets – losing nine games total – to help the Jaguars finish the regular season with an 11-match win streak and increase her spring record to 14-5.

She opened the week with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Josefina Zehnder of Middle Tennessee, then downed Sanae Ohta of Troy 6-2, 6-1 for her sixth consecutive win.

Stiteler teamed up with Monica Mitta (Fairhope, Ala.) for a 6-1 victory to clinch the doubles point against Middle Tennessee and improve to 9-1 on the year.
