MOBILE, Ala.
– Following the completion of the regular season on Saturday, the University of South Alabama men's and women's basketball teams will move on to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in New Orleans, La., starting Tuesday.

The South Alabama women enter the championship tournament as the 10th seed after ending the regular season with a 10-19 overall mark and a 5-13 Sun Belt record.  USA will open up play on Tuesday at 5 p.m. when it takes on seventh-seeded Georgia State (12-17, 8-10 SBC) in the first round.

The USA men earned the No. 9 seed following a 14-17, 7-11 regular season, and will face No. 8 Coastal Carolina Wednesday at 11: 30 a.m.

The Jag women split the season-series versus the Panthers, winning 77-47 on Jan. 27 and falling 55-45 at home on Jan. 26.  The 30-point victory is tied for the biggest margin of victory as South Alabama set a season-high in points.  The game was never in doubt as the Jags led by 30 points at halftime. In the second matchup a jumper by Colby Davis tied the game up at 39-39 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers went on a 14-4 run to secure their victory.

South Alabama enters the league tournament winners of three of its past seven games to close out the regular season.  The winner of the first-round contest between USA and Georgia State will advance to take on second-seed Texas-Arlington in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Chanticleers and Jaguars met just once in the regular season, with CCU prevailing 81-77 overtime after rallying from a 14-point deficit at halftime. Wednesday will be just the fourth meeting between the two schools, and first in the postseason.

Top-seeded Texas-Arlington will await the winner on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Fans can purchase an all-tournament pass for $75 or single session (two games) for $15 from the South Alabama ticket office.  Click here for women's ticket information and click here for men's ticket information.  Students of Sun Belt institutions are admitted free with valid school ID.
