STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The University of South Alabama women's golf team will face a field that includes three league foes at the 24th Annual John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State beginning Sunday.
"I really want to see continued improvement this weekend," head women's golf coach Matt Luther said. "We've made some good adjustments coming off of last week. I'd like to see better thinking going into shots."
The Panthers' three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted at the par 72, 6,033-yard Eagle's Landing Country Club will begin on Sunday, March 26 and conclude on Tuesday, March 28. The tournament will consist of a 15-team field that includes Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, Kansas State, Murray State, Oral Roberts, Tulsa, UAB, Western Carolina, Western Michigan and Winthrop along with three Sun Belt members — Georgia State, Louisiana-Monroe and Appalachian State.
The Jaguars will look to build off their best finish of the spring season after a 924 three-round score to place fourth at the Bama Beach Bash last weekend. South Alabama was led by senior Elisa Axelsen who recorded her best tournament score of the season (226) and matched a round low with a 73 in the second round.
MacKenzie Peyton continues to own the Jaguars' best stroke average with a 76.47 through 19 rounds. Junior Madison Connell, who missed the Bama Beach Bash last weekend due to injury, will not compete in the Panthers' Invitational.
The John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate will tee off at 9:30 a.m (CT) on Sunday. Live three-hole scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
