MEN’S TENNIS EARNS FIRST SEED IN HEB INVITATIONAL

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team, ranked No. 28 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, will travel to Corpus-Christi, Texas this weekend to compete in the HEB Invitational as the No. 1 seed.
 
The Jaguars are on an eleven-match win streak and are looking to extend it going into this weekend. Last weekend, USA blanked Samford 4-0 and defeated Alabama-Birmingham 4-1.
 
Senior Juan Cruz Soria (San Juan, Argentina) was named the Sun Belt co-player of the week by earning a pair of victories at the No. 1 spot in Birmingham, Ala.
 
The Jags' first round opponent will be UTRGV Friday at 10 a.m. The Vaqueros are coming off a 2-10 start this spring, dropping their last five matches.  South Alabama will play either DePaul or Louisiana-Lafayette in the next round at 5:00 p.m.  The invitational will wrap up on Saturday with a final match at 9:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.
 
Other teams attending the event include, New Mexico State, Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, UTSA and Arizona.
