NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama's Juan Cruz Soria has been named Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Friday.  The Jaguars have won or shared the first five of the six player of the week honors by the conference to start the spring season, with Soria garnering the selection four times.
 
This is the first time South Alabama has been awarded the weekly honor five times in a season since Daniel Leitner won it five times in 2015.
 
Soria won his only singles and doubles matches last week at UCF, with both coming over top 100 opponents.  In singles he rallied after dropping the first set and beat No. 44 Korey Lovett 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 on court No. 1.  In doubles with teammate Loic Cloes they defeated No. 78 Mariano Porter and Harrison Richmond 6-2 on court No. 1.
 
The Jags return to the court next Friday at 1:00 p.m. with a neutral site match in New Orleans against Dartmouth.
