MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama head soccer coach
Richard Moodie announced Thursday the signing of four players for the 2017 season.
Joining the 2017 Jaguars are
Deanna Green,
Ana Helmert,
Hannah Moody and
Ashleigh Pyle.
"We are excited about our 2017 class. This group will provide the squad with depth and make the practice environment even more competitive. This group is motivated and eager to make their mark here at South Alabama."
Deanna Green – Defender
Brandon High School
Madison, Miss.
Led team to state, south state and regional tournament appearances… Bulldogs posted 18-2 record in her senior season… Named to all-star and all-region 5 6A teams… Also ran track at BHS… Played eight seasons for MS Rush club team, where she played a role on state and south state championship squads.
Moodie on Green: "Deanna can be an immediate impact player for us here at South Alabama. Her athletic ability and determination matches just what is required of a Division I player. Given the graduation of some key players last year, Deanna has the potential to fill one of those holes from day one."
Ana Helmert – Forward/Midfielder
The Woodlands (Texas) High School
Mountain Home, Ark.
Lettered in soccer, track and golf… Tallied 21 goals in 2014 and 34 in 2015… Scored equalizer in state final as a freshman… Holds Arkansas record for 300 meter hurdles… Played two seasons with Texas Rush club team… Advanced to region finals while playing with Arkansas Rush.
Moodie on Helmert: "Ana exemplifies the physical qualities demanded to play at this level. Her technically ability and eye for goal is very impressive and has the ability to only get better here at South. She is a natural goal scorer and one that will have a positive impact here."
Hannah Moody – Midfielder
Mary G. Montgomery High School
Semmes, Ala.
Lettered three seasons in high school (7th, 8th, 12th), and played three seasons for club team… Led Vikings to state quarterfinals in 2013… Currently holds school record for assists… Enters senior year with 24 goals and 38 assists… Twice named to Mobile Press-Register All-Region Team and two-time Mobile County All-Star… Selected to Battle of the Bay game on three occasions… Played six seasons for Gulf Coast Texans and one for Gulf Coast Rangers… Member of Florida and Alabama ODP teams… Selected to USClub id2 training camp and USCamp PDP training center… Three-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com… ECNL Southeast Conference Player to Watch.
Moodie on Moody: "Hannah is a fantastic local talent. It is always great to have local players on your team as it demonstrates the quality of the soccer community here in Mobile. She is a worker and will be a great addition to the squad."
Ashleigh Pyle –Midfielder/Forward
Bob Jones High School
Madison, Ala.
Started as a sophomore for team that reached state semifinals… Led Bob Jones HS to area championship and state playoff appearance as a junior… Member of Elite Club National League in Birmingham, Ala. from 2015-16.
Moodie on Pyle: "Ashleigh epitomizes the physical requirements needed to play at this level. Her mentality and work ethic is fantastic and can be very influencial both in practice and in games. We are excited to have Ashleigh join the Jag family."
