NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama Juan Cruz Soria has been named Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Wednesday.  Soria has gone 6-1 in singles matches and 5-2 in doubles matches to start the spring season.

A key figure to the Jaguars' 5-2 start in spring play, four of Soria's six wins in singles came in straight sets.  In the other two wins he rebounded from dropping the first set and won the next two sets.  He's undefeated on court No. 2, going 5-0 while splitting two matches on court No. 1.  He earned a highlight win in the FSU Invitational, as he knocked off the host school's top ranked singles player, No. 59 Guy Iradukunda.  Bouncing back from losing the first set 5-7, he won the next two sets 6-4, 6-4 as the Jags nearly knocked off Florida State.

Playing on court No. 1 in doubles, he has won his last four doubles matches while playing with two different teammates. 

South Alabama returns to action on Saturday with a home match against Auburn at 1:00 p.m.
