All-Time Series
The all-time series between South Alabama and Baylor is tied 1-1 entering this weekend's series. USA defeated BU 9-3 in the 1993 NCAA Regional in Baton Rouge, La., in the first-ever meeting between the schools. The Bears, ranked No. 6 in the nation at the time, defeated the Jaguars 14-4 in the QTI Baylor Classic in 2009 in Waco, Texas.

• South Alabama leads the SBC in batting average (.390), slugging percentage (.596), on-base percentage (.532), runs scored (59), hits (57), triples (4) and RBI (55), and ranks second in walks (34) entering the weekend.

• The Jaguar pitching staff leads the league in ERA (1.00) and walks issued (8), tied for first in earned runs allowed (4), ranks second in runs allowed (6), third in opposing batting average (.190).

• Travis Swaggerty leads the SBC in slugging percentage (1.222), ranks tied for first in OBP (.714) and third in batting average (.556).

• Eddie Paparella ranks second in the conference in batting average (.643) and RBI (11), tied for second in slugging percentage (1.000) and hits (9), third in OBP (.688) and total bases (14) and tied for third in runs scored (7).

• Will Luft ranks tied for second in the league in slugging percentage (1.000), third in RBI (9), tied for fourth in batting average (.538) and OBP (.647), and tied for fourth in total bases (13).

• Left-hander Zach Melton was named the SBC Pitcher of the Week on Monday after tossing six no-hit innings with nine strikeouts against one walk in his first career start last weekend against Eastern Illinois. Melton combined with two other Jaguar hurlers on the shutout. He leads the SBC in opposing batting average (.000), ranks tied for first in ERA (0.00) and tied for fifth in strikeouts (9). 

• First baseman Wells Davis has hit safely in the first four games of the season. Third baseman Brendan Donovan carries a career-best seven-game hitting streak into the weekend after hitting safely in his final six games of the 2016 season.

• USA has not allowed a run beyond the fourth inning in four games this season.

• South Alabama's 32 runs and 30 RBI against Eastern Illinois last weekend set new school single-game records, breaking the previous records of 29 runs and 26 RBI which was set in 2013 against New Orleans at Stanky Field.
