MOBILE, Ala. – Former University of South Alabama tight end Gerald Everett took another step toward becoming the program's first-ever selection in the National Football League Draft with Wednesday's announcement that he has been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine.

The event will take place in Indianapolis from Feb. 28-March 6, with top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams on hand to evaluate the nation's top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft.  Participants were determined by a selection committee that included the directors of both National and BLESTO scouting services, and members of various NFL player personnel departments.

Everett is one of 19 tight ends who will take part in the combine, with the position group set begin its experience March 1 and wrap up on March 4.  Over the course of four days, participant activities include on-field and psychological testing, interviews with NFL teams, medical examinations, media interview sessions and a National Football League Players Association meeting.

The combine will be televised by the NFL Network and streamed live on NFL Mobile apps available via Verizon and XBOX, and it can also be viewed on various devices through Watch NFL Network.  Audio programming will be carried by SiriusXM NFL Radio and the TuneIn app.

Everett was invited to participate after completing a two-year career with the Jaguars that saw the Lithonia, Ga., native record 90 receptions for 1,212 yards — an average of 14.36 yards per catch — and 12 touchdowns.  He scored 16 touchdowns in all while posting 1,299 all-purpose yards, earning first-team all-Sun Belt Conference honors following each season.  Last fall Everett was a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award presented to the top tight end in the country, and after the campaign he played in the Reese's Senior Bowl where he was part of a South team that earned a 16-15 win.

He is the third former Jag to take part in the NFL Scouting Combine, joining quarterback Brandon Bridge and tight end Wes Saxton who both were invited after the 2014 season.
