“INSIDE JAGNATION” — SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS PODCAST — EPISODE 72

MOBILE, Ala. – Now in his third season on the University of South Alabama men's basketball staff, assistant coach Brock Morris visited to record this week's episode of the weekly podcast of Jaguar Athletics, "Inside JagNation."

In the interview Morris discusses his thoughts on the Jags performance entering Sun Belt Conference play — they will next be in action at home against Georgia State on Friday, Dec. 29 — what aspect of the game the team has done well through the opening month-plus of the campaign and the area the coaching staff is working on the most to improve.  He explains his schedule on a normal day during the season, breaking down how much time he spends on each of his responsibilities, his approach to recruiting including what he looks for when watching film as opposed to what he wants to see when scouting in person, and what advice he would give to individuals interested in entering the coaching profession.

Morris, who originally hails from Albertville, Ala., talks about his career in basketball including his path as a player, how he ended up coaching and his professional progression since making that decision, and what job he used to think he would do after earning his degree.

A four-year letterwinner at Albertville High, Morris continued his career at Snead State (Ala.) C.C. before earning both his undergraduate (history, 2008) and master's (human environmental sciences, 2010) degrees from Alabama.  His first full-time position was as director of operations at Louisiana from 2010-13, and after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at the College of Southern Idaho — where he helped the team to a 58-8 overall record, two Scenic West Athletic Conference championships and a berth in the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament — he came to South in August 2015.
