MOBILE, Ala. – Prior to playing the final game of his collegiate career, University of South Alabama defensive lineman Tre Alford sat down to record this week's edition of the weekly podcast of Jaguar Athletics, "Inside JagNation."

A senior from Tuscaloosa, Ala., Alford has been credited with 18 total stops in 11 appearances this fall including recording one sack.  He's posted multiple tackles in each of the last three outings, highlighted by a season-best four against Louisiana while the sack came the following week on Senior Day in a win over Arkansas State.

In 36 career games, Alford has totaled 64 tackles — with 5½ of those behind the line of scrimmage — three passes defensed and a forced fumble.  As a redshirt sophomore in 2015, his first season as a starter, he made 37 stops with 3½ for loss and a pair of passes broken up.  That year he recorded a career-high nine tackles in the opener against Gardner-Webb as well as five and four stops in wins over Troy and Louisiana, respectively, to earn the coaches' defensive line award on multiple occasions.

In the podcast Alford discusses his emotions both throughout the year as well as heading into his final game as a Jaguar and highlight moments from his last collegiate season.  He explains why he decided join the program as a walk on after coming to South, his experience while sitting out that fall as a redshirt, what he did to move from the scout team onto the Jags' depth chart and which former players aided in his development his first season on the field.  Alford also describes what he needed to do to return to the lineup after injuring his knee during workouts in the summer of 2016 and what being a part of the program means to him.

Other subjects in the episode include Alford's plans once the season is complete — having already earned his undergraduate degree in exercise science in May — and potential fields of interest for a professional career.
