MOBILE, Ala.  – University of South Alabama women's golf head coach Matt Luther announced Thursday that international student Nele Mattner (Braunschweig, Germany) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the program for the 2018 season.

"She has international experience and she's played at a high level," said Luther. "It's the same as with our other freshmen, she's been in a development culture and should fit right into what we're doing. She's got a ton of upside. She hits it a long way, and she's big and strong. She has a lot of room to grow."

Mattner attended Hoffman von Fallersleben School and is part of the Stuttgarter Golf-Club Solitude. She is currently ranked No. 15 in the German Junior Golf Rankings.

The incoming freshman will join the roster with multiple individual top finishes under her belt. Some of Mattner's accomplishments include winning the 2017 Braunschweiger Lowen-Cup and the 2017 BWGV 2.Rangliste Madchen.

She also finished in the top 10 of the 2017 BWGV 1.Rangliste Madchen and the International Matchplay Trophy.
