MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team released its 2018 spring schedule, as announced by head coach Nick Brochu on Thursday.
 
"This is probably the toughest spring schedule we have had in a long time," Brochu said. "The reason being we don't get any breaks and face some tough teams."
 
The Jaguars kick off the spring at the Florida State Invitational on Jan. 13 and 14 in Tallahassee, Fla., before hosting Xavier on Jan. 20 for the first home match of the season starting at 2 p.m.
 
USA then heads to Gainesville, Fla., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend where they will face Florida on Jan. 26 and either Pepperdine or South Florida on Jan. 27.
 
After the month of January, the Jaguars have eight home duals on the docket with just six road matches. USA will host: New Orleans Feb. 4 (11 a.m.), North Florida Feb. 11 (11 a.m.), Lamar Feb. 13 (Noon), Southern Miss Feb. 17 (Noon), Samford Feb. 23 (2 p.m.), UNC-Wilmington Mar. 7 (2 p.m.), Depaul Mar. 23 (1 p.m.), Middle Tennessee State Mar. 24 (11 a.m.), and finish with Alabama-Birmingham for Senior Day Apr. 8 (11 a.m.).
 
The Jaguars road duals are: Auburn Feb. 9 (4 p.m.), Georgia State Feb. 25 (Noon CST), Troy Mar. 10 (Noon), South Florida Mar. 17 (1 p.m. CST), Florida Atlantic Mar. 29 (11 a.m. CST) and Miami (FL) Mar. 30 (2 p.m. CST).
 
The Jaguars will play on one tournament after the first month of the campaign at the H-E-B Invitational in Corpus Christi, Texas, Feb. 2 and 3. The Jaguars won the H-E-B last season.
 
USA concludes the season at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Atlanta, Ga., Apr. 19-22.
 
"The key will be to have strong start to get through our schedule. If we don't have a strong start, we will feel like we have to play catch up the rest of the season," Brochu said.
