GODFREY EARNS SUN BELT PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama junior Hannah Godfrey was voted the Sun Belt Conference Defender of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Godfrey receives the weekly award for the second time this season.

The Thornton-Cleveleys, England native played all 180 minutes in two South Alabama victories, including one shutout. The Jaguar defense held their two opponents to 18 total shots and just three on goal for a .167 shot on goal percentage.

On Friday, Louisiana had just three of their nine shots hit the target, and went scoreless for the final 83:12. Against Texas State, USA recorded its fourth clean sheet of the season while holding the Bobcats without a shot on goal in nine attempts.

Texas State is the first South Alabama opponent to go without a shot on goal since September of last year, and the three shots on goal are the team's lowest over a two-game span all season.
