GINGRAS TAKES OPENING MATCH, ONE WIN AWAY FROM REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS MAIN DRAW

BATON ROUGE, La. – Olivier Gringas kicked of the ITA Southern Regional Championships with a victory in the second round of qualifying on Thursday.
 
SINGLES
-Olivier Gingras took down Mississippi State's Hunter Harrison 6-4, 6-2.
 
NOTES
-Gingras will take on Samford's Max Rebol at 9 a.m. on Friday in qualifying finals to reach the main draw.
-Lucas Gonzalez will take on Troy's Antonio Selma in the first round of one main draw on Friday at 1 p.m.
-Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol  will begin singles action in the main draw on Saturday, as will South's two doubles pairings of Cloes/Marzol and Gingras/Gonzalez.

On Gingras's performance: "Oli started out the match very well putting himself up 4-0, but he lost his focus seeing the first set tied 4-4. However, from that point to the end of the match he zoned in and used his serve to close it out."
