“INSIDE JAGNATION” — SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS PODCAST — EPISODE 63

MOBILE, Ala. – Coming off the University of South Alabama football program's win in the "Battle For The Belt" and leading into the Jaguars' Homecoming game Saturday, Jeremy Reaves visited with "Inside JagNation" for this week's episode of the official podcast of Jaguar Athletics.

Reaves not only discusses the Jags' defensive performance and what he believes was the key to the unit's success in the 19-8 victory at rival Troy last week, but what the team can use from the contest as it begins the second half of the 2017 season.  The senior safety also talks about his second-quarter interception against the Trojans, evaluates his performance in South's most recent home game against Idaho — which included 12 stops with two behind the line of scrimmage, a pair of forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three passes broken up — and his standing among the top 10 in five different statistical categories in the school's career record books.

Other topics of the podcast include how the Jaguar's non-conference schedule, featuring back-to-back matchups with Power 5 opponents, has helped the team prepare for league play, the difference in the USA defense's second season under coordinator Kane Wommack and whether or not he believe it is a challenge to prepare to play at the professional level while remaining focused on the current campaign.

Through six games, the Pensacola, Fla., native leads the Jags with 43 total tackles, five stops for loss and six passes broken up; he is also tied for tops on the team with two forced fumbles and an interception, and has recovered a fumble as well.  In the Sun Belt rankings, Reaves is tied for second in fumbles forced, among the top five in passes defensed and fumble recoveries, and among the top 15 in total stops and tackles behind the line.  Entering USA's contest Saturday against ULM, he is the school's all-time leader with eight forced fumbles and 20 passes broken up, tied for the lead with six picks, and in the top 10 in both tackles (fifth, 240) and tackles for loss (tie-ninth, 18½).
