THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richard Moodie

Overall thoughts: "I thought it was a good game. They came out and had the upper hand in the first 10 minutes, then the game kind of leveled out and when it did, we saw a lot of the ball and created a lot of chances. The statistics were not an accurate reflection of the game. The penalty looked outside of the box, but even then, we have to do better than that. Those moments after a goal, we're trying to withstand the pressure. After everything we went through on Friday, for us to go into overtime and win it, was fantastic. They had a man sent off, which gave us the upper hand. We changed our tactics and went for it. We knew it was a game we needed to win and the girls were willing to give a bit extra today."

On the seniors contributing today: "They were phenomenal. It's great to be in this position because I've also been coaching teams where maybe our seniors weren't our best players. Every game and every challenge, our seniors have stepped up and led the group. They've created a good environment for our freshmen. Our seniors were brilliant. We always talk about creating that one good opportunity, and when we do, it always seems to come from our seniors with their experience. I do have to go on record, Selma (Bjorgvinsdottir) today covered more ground today than she did on Friday, and Deanna Green didn't stop getting forward. All of the young kids today were brilliant but our seniors have done a great job taking them under their wing and showing them what it takes to be a champion."

On how the game changed after the red card: "There was only about five minutes left and we looked at making a change there, but we had created enough opportunities, so we said if it went into overtime we would go for it. We created a good couple of chances to win the game in the last few minutes, but the ball fell to the wrong people or we had tired legs. When it went to extra time, we went three at the back and we just went for it. The product of the goal was Dani playing as a center forward and we just told her not to defend."

On the differences between Friday and Sunday: "That's a hard one to answer. On Friday, we played well. I thought we dominated the game, we just chose the wrong moments. As the game went on, there was no conviction in our effort. Today when we went forward, it was with more conviction. We just make silly mistakes that let teams back in the game, and it's something we have to eliminate, especially going into tournament time. A game like today, we should be able to see it out 1-0. A game like Friday, even if we don't make a mistake, I don't know where their next chance comes from, and I think we could have put enough pressure on them to get the goal. I don't know what the difference is, but I do know that moving forward, we have to be able to see out these close games."
