JAGS MEN’S TENNIS BEGINS HOME SCHEDULE AGAINST CHARLOTTE

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team is set to kick off their home schedule Sunday at 11 a.m. as they host University of North Carolina at Charlotte at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Courts.

"It's good to be back at home and play on our courts," said USA head coach Nick Brochu. "We will have to make sure we start strong and get that doubles point."

The Jags are coming off a fourth place finish at the Florida State Invitational where seniors Tuki Jacobs (Windhoek, Namibia), ranked No. 91 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and Juan Cruz Soria (San Juan, Argentina) went undefeated in singles, including wins over two ranked opponents from Florida State. Jacobs defeated No. 71 Aziz Dougas 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, and Soria bested No. 59 Guy Iradukunda 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

"Our guys have been practicing hard, and we can't wait to play in front of our fans," Brochu said.

UNC Charlotte started their spring season with a 4-0 record, led by sophomore Sam Rice who has gone 4-0 in singles this spring at the No. 1 spot. Rice defeated No. 52 Jacob Dunbar of Richmond earlier this season.

"UNC-C is a young team with a new coach," said Brochu. "They have lots of energy."
