JAGUAR MEN SWEEP SUN BELT WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama track and field student-athletes Rafael Scott and Sean Collins were named the Sun Belt Conference men's Track and Field weekly award winners, respectively, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Scott was chosen as league's track student-athlete of the week after a record-breaking finish in the 60-meter dash at the Vanderbilt Invitational this past weekend, while Collins was selected as field student-athlete of the week for his performance in pole vault.

Scott broke his own school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.59 second to finish first at the Commodores' event.  The junior's record time is tied for second-fastest in the NCAA this indoor season and first in the Sun Belt Conference.

In Collins' first meet since suffering a season-ending injury at the SBC Outdoor Championship last year, the sophomore finished fourth in the Vanderbilt Invitational men's pole vault, clearing 5.20m.  That mark is a Sun Belt Conference best so far this season and tied for eighth in the nation.

South Alabama will return to action Feb. 5 for the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
