MOBILE, Ala. – This week the guest on the University of South Alabama's "Inside JagNation" podcast is Mechell Daniel, who was named preseason all-Sun Belt Conference on Monday.

In this episode, Daniel — a senior outside hitter from Chelmsford, England — tells listeners how she found out about and her reaction to discovering her honor at the start of the week, how she has prepared for her final season at the collegiate level, a typical day of preseason camp and what she does on the day of a match to get ready to play.  As a member of the English national team prior to arriving in Mobile, she also discusses what it is like to play for her country in international competition.

Daniel enters the 2016 campaign fifth in program history with 1,198 kills and has recorded 850 digs, which is 14 shy of entering the top 10 on the Jaguars' career record list.  In addition to standing among the top 10 in both kills (3.59) and digs (2.54) per set, she is second all-time with 40 double-doubles.  Not only was she named the 2013 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, Daniel was a first-team all-league selection that fall and has been voted second-team all-conference each of the last two years.
