MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will compete in its second spring tournament this weekend when it welcomes Mobile, Southern Mississippi, West Alabama and West Florida.  The five-team field will compete in the 2016 University of South Alabama Spring Tournament with matches slated to be held on both USA's home court in Jag Gym and in the Striplin Practice Facility on Saturday.

Admission for the tournament is free for every match and all three of South Alabama's matches will be held in Jag Gym.

USA will open up tournament play at 9 a.m., Saturday morning when it takes on West Florida.  The Jaguars will then face West Alabama at 11:30 a.m., and Southern Mississippi at 12:45 p.m. 

At the conclusion of the tournament, the 2016 South Alabama squad will square off with a Jaguar alumni squad comprised of former player from the last three decades.  Among those expected to return to campus for the alumni match are Jenna Hassell (2010-14) – the program's career digs leader, Taylor Irvin (2006-09), Jordan (McMullen) Diaz (2008-11), April (Dodd) Smith (1997-2000) and Colleen (Downey) Smith (2005-08), as well as Emily Hundt was a four-year starter and member of last year's team.

South Alabama already has one spring tournament under its belt, notching a solid showing at a tournament hosted by Georgia Tech on March 26, where the Jags faced South Florida and Southeastern Conference members South Carolina and Tennessee.

USA will also travel to LSU on April 16 where the Jags will face the host Tigers, Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana.
