SOFTBALL’S BROWN EARNS FOURTH LEAGUE PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK HONOR

NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of South Alabama softball's Devin Brown has been named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced on Monday.

Brown went 2-0 last weekend in USA's three-game sweep of Texas-Arlington with 26 strikeouts against a walk in 14 innings. The Mobile, Ala., native allowed only four runs (three earned) on 10 hits and held the Mavericks to a .179 batting average on the weekend.

Brown struck out 13 Texas-Arlington batters in each start, raising her season total to 226, eight shy of tying Beth Pilgrim's program season record 234, set in 2009. Brown has now thrown 10 or more strikeouts in 14 of her 25 total appearances this season.

The honor is the third for Brown over the last four weeks and the fourth total in 2016, after she won the award for her opening-weekend performance on Feb. 16.
