99.5 THE JAG SET TO BEGIN BROADCASTING SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS

MOBILE, Ala. – The agreement was announced on National Signing Day nearly two months ago.  Now a new media outlet created in conjunction with iHeartMedia will serve as the broadcasting flagship for University of South Alabama Athletics beginning on Saturday.

That's when 99.5 FM The JAG will air live the iHeartRadio Red-Blue Spring Game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, which is set for a noon (CDT) start.  The station will also have coverage of the Jaguars' Sun Belt Conference baseball series with Louisiana-Monroe — games are set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Stanky Field — and will continue to broadcast the program's contests throughout the spring.

Starting in the fall, 99.5 FM The JAG will be the broadcast home for the South football and men's basketball programs as well.  If multiple teams are competing at the same time, both broadcasts will be available via the internet.

In addition to being available over the air in the Gulf Coast region, all games can be heard for free worldwide via the iHeartRadio platform.

"We are excited and proud to be a part of a historic launch — not just a new radio station, but a fully co-branded partnership with South Alabama Athletics," stated Mike Scott, iHeartMedia Mid-South Region President.  "99.5 The JAG has many firsts:  the first full partnership 'co-branded' station, and most exciting, the first 'co-branded' iHeartRadio channel in the United States.  We at iHeartMedia are proud to be a part of this new partnership with JagNation!"

When not broadcasting Jaguar Athletics, 99.5 FM The JAG will feature a sports talk format in partnership with Fox Sports, including national shows hosted by Colin Cowherd and Jay Mohr Monday-Friday.  The station will officially launch on Friday.

"South Alabama Athletics and Jaguar Sports Properties are extremely proud to partner with iHeartMedia in launching 99.5 FM The JAG," said Travis Toth, USA Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs.  "This new flagship radio station will be an anchor for us to broadcast all Jaguar sports and gives our fans the flexibility to listen live within our community, the Gulf Coast region and worldwide on the iHeart app.  We appreciate the vision of Mike Scott for this venture and we look forward to the growth of JagNation."
