MOBILE, Ala. – Thanks to a 5-0 start, the University of South Alabama men's basketball team is No. 23 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll released this week.
The Jaguars are one of three teams from the Sun Belt Conference listed. Texas-Arlington is 13th and Arkansas State is No. 25.
The five straight wins to begin a season matches the best-ever start by the program. USA won the Red Diamond Roundball Classic over the weekend, defeating Florida International (69-64 OT), Youngstown State (84-75) and Jacksonville (71-58).
Gonzaga (3-0) is the top team in the poll with 764 points and 22 first-place votes.
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic.
