2015-16 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar List.pdf
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Once again the University of South Alabama softball program continued to excel not only on the field, but in the classroom as eight current and former student-athletes were named All-America Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), during the 2015-16 season as announced by the organization earlier this fall.
The individual award is given to student-athletes that acquire a 3.5 grade-point average or higher during said academic year. Winners from this past season include Alex Breeden, Devin Brown, Kristina Foster, Dayla Gulledge, Savanna Mayo, Emily Messer, Amanda Minahan and Kaleigh Todd.
The selection marked the fourth-straight year for Breeden, the third for Messer, the second for Brown, Foster and Todd and the first for Minahan, Gulledge and Mayo.
As a team, South Alabama ranked 66th nationally with a 3.289 GPA, which was an improvement of nine spots and seven thousandths of a point better from a year ago.
The eight Jag honorees were part of 1,240 honorees from across the NCAA Division I level and are the third-most in an academic year in program history.
USA has had at least seven honorees in each season of its existence since the inaugural 2007 campaign and a total of 67 student-athletes at South Alabama have earned the honor under head coach Becky Clark. Click the link above for a full list of last year's NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes.
