MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama softball Becky Clark announced on Friday the addition Iman Muhammad (Acworth, Ga.) to this year's early signing period class. Muhammad joins Kamdyn Kvistad (Wellborn, Fla.), Hannah Smith (Lafayette, La.), Baylie Thornhill (Baton Rouge, La.) and Jayden Dukes (Lake Charles, La.) who all signed last week.

Muhammad, a slap hitter signs with South Alabama after lettering at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga. Over the last three seasons Muhammad has posted a .464 batting average in 274 at-bats, registering 127 hits and scoring 95 runs according to MaxPreps.com and in 93 games she has recorded 41 stolen bases in 45 attempts.
"Iman adds depth to our outfield and brings tremendous speed with her as well," Clark said. "She is a left-handed slapper with Division-I speed and athleticism. Offensively, I anticipate her contributing at the top of our order or in the nine-hole. I think she has tremendous potential, especially once she is in our system every day. She is a competitor as well and loves to be on the softball field."
As a senior this fall, Muhammad led the team in batting average (.475) and on-base percentage (.553). This fall, the Lady Warriors advanced to the Sweet 16 of the GHSA State Fastpitch playoffs, the first time for the program since 2011.
During her junior season, Muhammad had a .447 batting average recording 42 hits in 94 at-bats where she was a first-team all-state selection. She also earned first-team all-region honors all four years of her prep career, while garnering first-team all-county accolades in three of those seasons.
Her best season at the plate came during her sophomore year as she hit .495, had 47 hits and scored 37 runs and was perfect stealing bases (23-for-23). Muhammad also started at North Cobb during her freshman year.
During the recruiting process, Muhammad received recruiting interest from Georgia and Tennessee. She also played three seasons of travel ball with the Jersey Intensity based out of Farmingdale, N.J.
