“INSIDE JAGNATION” — SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS PODCAST — EPISODE 17

MOBILE, Ala. – The guest this week on "Inside JagNation" — the official podcast of the University of South Alabama Department of Athletics — is Associate Athletic Director/Sports Medicine Jinni Frisbey.

In addition to her responsibilities overseeing the school's sports medicine department, Frisbey also serves as USA's Senior Woman Administrator and Title IX Coordinator.  She works with the Jaguar football program on a day-to-day basis, supervising a staff that includes seven full-time assistants, five graduate interns and 10 student assistants to meet the needs of South's nearly 350 student-athletes.  In addition, Frisbey is the sport supervisor for the women's basketball, soccer and softball programs while serving on several university and Sun Belt Conference committees.

A native of Pensacola, Fla., she earned her undergraduate degree from Troy State — where she was a member of the Trojan softball team — in 1995 and a master's degree from USA the following year.  Frisbey was the first full-time certified athletic trainer at the University of Mobile, where she would help develop the school's athletic training education program, working 11 years at the institution before joining the Jaguar athletic staff as an assistant athletic director in 2007.

In the podcast, Frisbey explains a typical day on the job, how she prepared to handle administrative responsibilities in addition to her day-to-day duties and her goals for Jaguar Athletics.  She also discusses how she discovered the sports medicine field, balancing being a student-athlete while preparing to enter the sports medicine profession and making the move from an NAIA to an NCAA institution.
