MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's basketball head coach Terry Fowler announced Thursday that Casey Ferguson (Biloxi, Mississippi), Antoinette Lewis (Memphis, Tennessee) and Devyn Lowe (Woodstock, Georgia) have signed Nation Letters of Intent and will join the Jaguar women's roster during the 2017-18 season.
"I am very excited about this group," said Fowler. "I just think overall we filled all the needs and checked off all the boxes we were looking for in the 2017 recruiting class. We're really excited about all of them. They're great students, which is certainly an important factor, and just really good people who come from some good families. I'm just excited for them to join Jaguar Nation. "
Devyn Lowe
5-7 – Guard
Woodstock High School (Wolverines)
Woodstock, Ga.
Highlights
Lowe signs with the Jaguars after lettering at Woodstock High School in Woodstock, Georgia for head coach Julie Crowe. Over her high school career so far she's lettered twice.
"We got a great shooter and a kid with a good basketball IQ in Devyn Lowe," said Fowler. "She's such a tough kid, mentally and physically."
In her sophomore season Lowe averaged 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals and set a school record for most steals in a season (113) and game (11). As a starting player in the backcourt she also recorded the second ever triple double in school history with 25 points, 11 steals and 11 assists and helped the Wolverines to an undefeated 25-0 regular season record.
After the year Lowe was named 10th grade region player of the year and all-state honorable mention.
As a freshman Lowe averaged 6.4 points and 2.4 assists per game.
Last season Lowe sat out the season while recovering from a torn ACL.
Lowe has played AAU basketball with WP Celtics, Team Elite and Peak Performance for each one year.
Ranked as a three-star recruit by ESPN, Lowe also received offers from Belmont, Dayton and Furman.
Antoinette Lewis
6-1 – Center
Harding Academy (Lions)
Memphis, Tenn.
Lewis hails from Memphis, Tennessee, where she has been a starting center for head coach Becky Starks at Harding Academy. The post player has already scored 1,000 points in just three years and is the only Lion to ever gather 1,000 career rebounds. She also ranks third in career blocks and fifth in scoring.
"We filled a post need with Antoinette Lewis," said Fowler. "She gives us some more size, is a great defender, and has the ability to score down low in the Sun Belt."
After averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds her junior season, Lewis was named district co-MVP and Tennessee Sports' Writers Association All-State Division II after helping Harding to a 23-6 record and 13-1 district record. The Lions have a combined 65-20 record after three years in which she was named team MVP each year.
Lewis has also lettered in three years in volleyball.
Samford, UTSA, Alabama State and fellow Sun-Belt member Arkansas State also offered Lewis.
Casey Ferguson
5-10 – Guard
D'Iberville High School (Warriors)
Biloxi, Miss.
Highlights
Ferguson has averaged a double-double in points and rebounds the past two years as a starting guard for head coach Renee Ladner at D'Ilberville High School in Biloxi, Mississippi.
"I think we filled a need with a big guard in Casey Ferguson," said Fowler. "She's athletic, can shoot, slashes to the rim and just has an overall good game. She has the potential to do everything at a high level in our backcourt."
In her junior year Ferguson averaged 21 points per game with 10.7 rebounds and 4.1 steals. After the season she was named to the MAC Junior All-Star Team, Sun Herald All-South Team and South Mississippi All-Star Team. She also garnered defensive player of the year honors in her district.
For her upcoming senior season she was selected to the Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen.
Ferguson has played with the Lady Conquerors outside of high school play.
Outside of basketball, Ferguson has lettered in cross country, track and field and soccer. In seventh grade she was on all three varsity teams for those respective sports. In her sophomore year she was the captain of the cross country team, and then decided to focus on basketball in her last three years of high school. She has also qualified for USA Weightlifting Junior Nationals Weightlifting meets and competed at CrossFit events.
With multiple offers elsewhere Ferguson choose the Jags over fellow Sun-Belt school Little Rock, UTRGV and other schools.
