JAGUAR FOOTBALL TO FACE UAB IN HOME-AND HOME SERIES

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama football team was set to play Alabama-Birmingham in a two-game agreement before the Blazers' program was temporarily shut down, which resulted in a series that led to the Jaguars' first-ever win over a nationally-ranked opponent last weekend.

Once again, South and UAB are scheduled to meet on the field with the announcement Friday that the two schools have signed a contract for a home-and-home series.

The Jags and Blazers will meet in Birmingham on Sept. 21, 2019, with the two also scheduled to play on Sept. 26, 2020, in Mobile.

The original agreement had the two schools slated to face each other during the 2015 and '16 campaigns.  To fill the void on their schedule, the Jaguars inked a two-game series with San Diego State; after earning a 34-27 victory in San Diego last fall, USA defeated the Aztecs — ranked 19th in the country entering the contest — last time out.

In 2019, South is also set to face Nebraska on the road in their opener and will take on Memphis at home prior to the UAB game.  The Jags' 2020 schedule also includes road contests against Southern Mississippi and Oklahoma State.
