MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann announced Thursday that Louisiana State has exercised its option to cancel the football game between the Jaguars and Tigers scheduled for Nov. 19.
LSU will pay a $1.5 million fee as stipulated by the contract signed by both schools, and all tickets purchased through the South Alabama Athletic Ticket Office will be reimbursed. Â Details will be released in the near future with information on the refund process.
"Obviously we are extremely disappointed to not have the opportunity to play in Baton Rouge on Nov. 19," said Jaguar Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann.  "This disappointment runs throughout our program, including our student-athletes, coaches, the University of South Alabama and all Jaguar fans.  We realize this is a very complicated and unique situation.  The University of South Alabama — with the assistance of the Sun Belt Conference — did everything reasonable within our power to make the game a reality, including offering to move our Homecoming game to a later date.
"Our focus this weekend is to go to Jonesboro and play Arkansas State."
USA will face the Red Wolves Saturday at 6 p.m.
