2015 NCAA Auburn Regional Tournament Central

2015 NCAA Tournament Bracket

MOBILE, Ala. –
No. 23 and 2015 Sun Belt Conference Tournament champion University of South Alabama softball was selected to participate in the NCAA Auburn Regional this weekend, May 15-17, when the Jaguars face the national four seed Tigers, Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech.

USA (38-11) learned its fate at a viewing party at Heroes Bar and Grill on Sunday when the national field of 64 teams was announced during the NCAA Selection Show on ESPNU. South Alabama will make its fourth NCAA Regional appearance in as many years, earning the SBC automatic bid after claiming its third league tournament title in four years. The Jags particpated in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional, hosted by Alabama, in 2012 and 2014 to bookend the 2013 Mobile Regional, which USA hosted for the first time in program history.

South Alabama opens the tournament on Friday versus Chattanooga at 3 p.m.

Auburn (49-9) claimed the Southeastern Conference Tournament crown on Saturday with a 6-5, extra-inning defeat of No. 11 Tennessee in the championship game.

Chattanooga (35-13), which defeated USA, 3-1, at the South Alabama Invitational on Feb. 20, won its 13th Southern Conference Tournament title last weekend with a 3-1 win over Mercer.

Tennessee Tech (32-26) secured its seventh Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title last weekend with a 3-2 win over top-seed Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

Should the Jaguars advance to the Super Regional stage, they would face the winner of the Lafayette Regional, which features 13-seed Louisiana-Lafayette (39-9), Baylor (38-14), Mississippi State (35-19) and Weber State (38-17).
