JAG BASEBALL TO TAKE ON NICHOLLS STATE

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will travel to Thibodaux, La., for a 6 p.m. contest with Nicholls State Tuesday at Ray E. Didier Field.

The game will be broadcast live on WNTM 710 AM in Mobile, and can also be accessed via the iHeartRadio app. Live stats will be available at USAJaguars.com, while in-game updates will be provided at Twitter.com/SouthALBaseball.

NSU (21-14-1) will send right-hander Marc Frazier (1-5) to the mound for his ninth start of the season. Frazier carries a 4.47 ERA in 44 1/3 innings pitched into the game, and has struck out 32 batters against 17 walks. USA has not announced its starter for the contest.

USA (24-13) enters the game coming off its fourth straight Sun Belt Conference series win after taking two of three games from Appalachian State last weekend at Stanky Field. The Jaguars lead the SBC in batting average (.289), on-base percentage (.387), hits (367), triples (12) and walks (169), and are tied for first in the league in sacrifice flies (22).

The USA pitching staff leads the conference in strikeouts (284), and ranks second in the league in ERA (3.48). South Alabama ranks second in the SBC with a .972 fielding percentage entering Tuesday's contest.

Ryan Raspino carries a 16-game on-base streak into the game, while Jared Barnes enters with a team-best five-game hitting streak.

NSU is 8-2 in its last 10 games after taking two of three games at Central Arkansas last weekend. The Colonels are 12-7 at home this season. Nicholls State is batting just .245 as a team, but the pitching staff has a 2.31 ERA in 319 2/3 innings pitched this year.

South Alabama holds a 32-17 all-time lead over Nicholls State in a series that began in 1974. The schools split a pair of games last season with NSU defeating USA 15-4 in Thibodaux, after the Jags took the first meeting earlier in the year with a 5-4 decision at Stanky Field.
