MOBILE, Ala. – With less than a week remaining before the season opener, University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann announced Monday that 2010 season ticket sales for football have already surpassed the final total from the program’s inaugural season last fall.

Through the end of the final full week of August, the USA Athletic Ticket Office had sold 8,213 season tickets for the 2010 campaign.  Last year, when the Jaguars finished 7-0 in their first season of competition, that figure was 8,167 heading into the program’s debut victory over Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy on Sept. 5.

The Athletic Ticket Office will continue to sell season tickets — starting at only $40 — for the upcoming year, as well as mini-plans that start at just $24 that allows fans to reserve seats for any three games.  Individuals interested in purchasing USA football season tickets can call the Athletic Ticket Office at (251) 461-1USA (1872) or order via the web at www.usajaguars.com.

The Jags will open their second season Saturday at 4 p.m. against Pikeville (Ky.) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, and play seven of their 10 contests in 2010 at home.  That includes match-ups against Nicholls State (Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.) and Georgia State (Oct. 30 at 4 p.m.) — the first two NCAA Football Championship Subdivision teams to come to Mobile — as well as a Thursday night finale against Arkansas-Monticello Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
