TEE SHOTS
-The event featured 96 players from 17 schools, the largest field the Jaguars competed in this year.
-South made its first appearance in Texas since opening the 2019-20 campaign in San Antonio.
-LeCroy's 54-hole total was the lowest of his career as he led the Jags for the first time since accomplishing the feat at the Prairie Club Invitational in September 2019.
-Eight of his 15 birdies on the week — which tied for fourth most in the field — came in the final round, with the sophomore closing the tournament by going 4 under on his last five holes.
-Plunkett improved his score each day of the event, concluding play with a 3-under-par 33 over his final nine holes highlighted by an eagle at the par-five, 560-yard sixth.
-Lorentzen matched LeCroy for the team's best score in the second round after breaking par for the third time this semester.
-Schütz recorded his team-leading 12th round at or below par this year on the final day of play.
-It was the fourth straight event that Mitchell — who was among the top 15 in the field this week in scoring on the course's par-three holes — has carded at least one round at or under par.

THEY SAID IT
Head coach Ben Hannan
On South's performance at the tournament: "The golf course was firm and fast and the wind blew steadily throughout the event, it was a different style of golf for us and we didn't adapt as a group the way we needed; we forced things and put the ball in areas where it was simply hard to score.  We couldn't get all five guys on the same page at the same time and as a result we had to count a big number every round, which ultimately led to where we finished at the end of play."
On Jacob LeCroy's play at the event: "Jacob had a solid week for us.  He has been playing consistently and hitting a lot of nice shots but most important was his patience, which was key on this course.  On Tuesday it was very much the same and he made some putts coming in to close very well and shoot 69 on what I thought was the hardest day due to the wind and pin locations."
On preparing for postseason play at the end of the month: "There are a few things individually that the guys will need to do and we'll focus hard in trying to establish a game plan for Mystic Creek.  We can't duplicate the green complexes or the speed of the course, so it will be more about the game plan and decisions that will need to be made at the event for us to achieve our goal."

Up next: Play will begin at the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Sunday, April 25, at the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark.
