NOTES
- Last year the Jaguar women placed third and the men finished fifth at the 2019 Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships.Â
- South Alabama returns 12 all-conference performers from last year's Sun Belt Outdoor Championships: Hunter Appling (first-team 110mH), Harry Barthelemy (third-team high jump), Emilie Berge (third-team long jump, first-team heptathlon), Andonet Cheruiyot (third-team 10,000m), Christian Ellis (first-team triple jump), Autavia Fluker (second-team hammer, first-team shot put), Angeline Smit (third-team shot put), Hanna-Mai Vaikla (second-team javelin, second-team heptathlon), and the men's third-team all-conference 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Javen Jackson, Cam Stewart, Jaylen Boyd and Xavier Rogers. Â
- Fluker was named the Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer by the Sun Belt for the 2019 season. She added to her hardware during the indoor season by repeating as the conference's indoor shot put champion and an all-conference finish in the weight throw. Fluker will attempt to defend her shot put title outdoor as well and improve upon her second place finish in last year's hammer throw.Â
- 46 Jaguar student-athletes are slated to open up their outdoor season Friday.Â
- Competition is set to begin at 2 p.m. with the women's weight throw, while running is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the women's 100-meter hurdles.Â

THEY SAID IT
Head coach Paul Brueske
- On the transition to the outdoor season: "This is a very early meet, some of our athletes are not competing to give them more time to recover from minor injuries. We want to get our athletes as healthy as possible in order for them to compete at a high level. However, we have a majority of our athletes that are itching to go out and compete."
- On what he wants out of the first meet: "This meet is our starting point. We want to see great effort and focus. The idea is to try and continually make progress throughout the season."
