LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of South Alabama softball program continued to excel in the classroom as seven student-athletes from last season's roster were named All-America Scholar Athletes by the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), during the 2018-19 season as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
 
The individual award is given to student-athletes that acquire a 3.5 grade-point average or higher during said academic year. Winners from this past season include Jordyn Calderon, Jamie Finnical, Dayla Gulledge, Abby Krzywiecki, Savanna Mayo, MC Nichols and Victoria Ortiz. As a team, South Alabama posted a cumulative GPA of 3.121.

The selection marked the third-straight Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honor for Krzywieck and the second for Calderon, Gulledge, Mayo and MC Nicholsi, while it was the first for Finnical and Ortiz.

The seven Jag honorees were part of 1,769 honorees from across the NCAA Division I level and were part of 6,280 softball players from across seven membership divisions  

USA has had at least seven honorees in each season of its existence since the inaugural 2007 campaign and a total of 93 student-athletes at South Alabama have earned the honor under head coach Becky Clark.
