A four-time All-American, accomplishing the feat twice in cross country and on two more occasions in outdoor track, Okello earned all-region accolades in cross country three years and was named to the Sun Belt Conference’s 30th Anniversary All-Time Men’s Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Teams. He earned All-America honors in cross country in 2004 and ’05 while accomplishing the feat in the 5,000 meters at the 2006 and ’07 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Okello received all-conference honors in track on 18 occasions — nine indoor, nine outdoor — including claiming seven individual titles, and was an all-league cross country performer three times after winning the SBC championship in 2004 and finishing as runner-up the next two years. Named the most outstanding track performer and top point scorer at the 2005 Sun Belt Indoor Championships after winning the mile, 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs while helping the Jaguars to the team crown, he claimed the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the SBC Outdoor Championships that spring and also placed second in the 1,500-meter run to be chosen the meet’s most outstanding track performer. Okello placed in the top three in three races — the mile, 3,000 and 5,000 meters — to help USA win a share of the 2007 Sun Belt team title during the indoor season, and won the 5,000-meter run at the league outdoor championships that year.
