A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Liz Anne Selley left South Alabama as one of its top tennis players. Prior to the restructure of the Sun Belt Conference Tennis format, Selley was a four-time singles champion and a three-time doubles champ. In her four-year career (1988-1991), she won 87 percent of her matches and finished with an astonishing 821-12 singles mark, recording 20 or more wins her final three seasons following an undefeated freshman campaign in 1988. She was equally impressive on the doubles court, compiling a 60-16 (.790) career record. She capped her senior season was a No. 26 ranking in the Volvo Regional singles competition. She was a great student-athlete in the classroom as well, earning all-Sun Belt Conference Honor Roll honors her final three seasons. As a senior, she was nominee for Academic All-America. During her career the Jags posted three winning seasons and an overall record of 67-33. She led the Jags to the Sun Belt Conference championship in 1989.
