In his lone season with the program, Pierre earned second-team All-America honors from American Baseball Coaches Association and was also selected third-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball and the National College Baseball Writers Association.  A first-team all-region honoree, he was voted the 1998 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and was a first-team all-league choice that spring.  Pierre batted .373 with 77 runs, 16 doubles, five home runs and 40 RBI, and was successful on 54-of-62 stolen-base attempts.  He ranked fifth in the nation in stolen paces, leading the league in the category as well as in hits and runs.  After helping the Jaguars to a 42-19 overall mark and the Sun Belt regular-season championship, Pierre led USA within one game of the NCAA College World Series.  He was drafted in the 13th round of the by the Colorado Rockies and has gone on to play 13 seasons in the Major Leagues.
