Norton’s honors during his four-year career included being named to the Sun Belt Conference’s 30th Anniversary All-Time Baseball Team, voted first-team all-Sun Belt conference in 1998 and selected twice as the national Pitcher of the Week. Over a decade after the conclusion of his career, he held records for the school and conference after compiling a 34-15 mark. Norton, who was drafted by the Boston Red Sox, left USA as the career leader in innings pitched (409.1) and strikeouts (382), and he still ranks among the school’s seasons records leaders in strikeouts (fifth, 132 in 1997 and seventh, 121 in ’98) as well as innings pitched (142.2 in ’97).
