A Peterson, NJ, native, Glenn Borgmann was South Alabama’s first ever All-American… He led the Jags to a 62-25 two-year record in 1970-1971, as the starting catcher… His .409 career batting average is still a school record as is his .471 mark in 1971… While at South Alabama, he ranks second in doubles in one season, with 21 and fifth in RBIs in one season with 68… he led the nation… Borgmann was the leader of the 1971 Jaguars squad that is the USA squad with the top combined average, a mark of .326… In 1971, he was drafted second-oveall in the free-agent draft by the Minnesota Twins.
