At the time of his induction, Bennett ranked among the top 10 in program history in four statistical categories after recording 1,405 points, 208 three-point field goals, a 41.6 three-point field-goal percentage and 124 steals in three seasons with the Jaguars. He was twice voted first-team all-Sun Belt Conference and was also named to the league’s all-tournament team as a senior while helping South to NCAA and National Invitation Tournament berths his last two years. As a senior he scored 649 points — the third-highest season total in USA history at the time — to rank third in the SBC with a 19.7 scoring average, adding 5.8 rebounds per outing while converting 90 attempts from three-point range to lead the Jags to a school-record 26 wins, an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and the Sun Belt East Division championship. His 39 points that season in a 71-67 victory over Mississippi State in the Coors Classic were a Mitchell Center record, propelling the Jaguars into the top 25 of the national rankings. Bennett paced the team his junior year with 15.5 points per game and made 43.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc as USA won 20 games and the conference’s East Division title as well.
