A Mobile, Ala., native and McGill-Toolen High School standout, Bobby Abruscato was a four time all Sun Belt runner, notching a third-place finish in 1978m a sixth-place finish in 1979, a runner-up performance in 1980, and a league title in 1981… He led South Alabama to Sun Belt Conference cross country titles in 1978 and 1981…. He owned the school’s second fastest cross country time in two distances at the end of his career… They included marks of 24:34 on a five mile course and 30:30 on a 10,000 meter course… Abruscato retired with several school track records including outdoor marks in the three mile run, the 5,000 meter, the 10,000 meter and an indoor record in the 5,000 meter. He was a member of a pair of recor-setting relay teams- the outdoor four-mile relat and the indoor distance medley relay.
