Selected as the school’s first All-American after making the Kodak Region III team in 1980, Annie Laurie Witherington made a huge impact in her two seasons at South Alabama… Witherington still ranks eighth on the USA all-time scoring with 1,352 points list despite playing just two seasons… She is one of two players in school history to average better than 20 points per game, after averaging 23.3 and 18.3 points per game in her two years as a Lady Jag… Witherington’s 768 points during the 1980 season stands as a second most for single seasons… She is fifth all-time in field goals made (581) and ninth in career field-goal percentage (50.1) at USA… Witherington helped lead USA to a pair of AAIAW Regional tournament appearances in her two seasons.
