JAGUAR GOLF’S KARLSSON CLAIMS ESTONIAN AMATEUR OPEN TITLE

KURESSAARE, Estonia – Rasmus Karlsson, a rising junior on the University of South Alabama men's golf team, recorded a come-from-behind victory at the Estonian Amateur Open on Sunday.

Entering the final day three strokes behind Eetu Isometsä, Karlsson was 3-under par on the back nine of the Saaremaa Golf Club en route to a 2-under-par 70 in the final round and a 54-hole score of 3-under-par 213 to earn the win by one shot.  In an event that began with 53 competitors playing 36 holes on Saturday, the two were the only individuals to conclude the weekend below par.

Karlsson — who began the tournament with scores of 73 and 70 — was 8 under on the back side of the course over two days, including a bogey-free 32 on Saturday afternoon before Sunday's 33 to close out the event.  The only player in the field with multiple eagles, over three rounds he was 3 under on Nos. 12 and 16, both par fives, while birdying the par-three 14th each of the last two times he played the hole.

He led all players in scoring on par threes (2.83) and par fives (4.50), and was tied for second with a combined 11 eagles and birdies over the weekend.

It's the third straight year that Karlsson has finished among the top five at the Estonian Amateur Open, as he tied for fourth in 2016 prior to his freshman season and tied for third last spring.

He posted a 73.70 scoring average and two top-10 results for the Jags last season, including tying for third with a 1-under-par 212 total in his final competition of the year at the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
